Christmas time for many families in our region can be difficult. The pressure of  "the most wonderful time of the year" can mean that some families will be struggling to enjoy the festivities when the worry of bills, food and presents is looming.

Children’s Place Foundation over the past 4 years have worked in partnership with local organisations to help provide support for theses families. Working with Children's Centre's, Charities, Women's refuges and other family services we are able to gift families with a Christmas food hamper and a gift to enjoy as a family.

Each hamper is packed with 3 days worth of food, that will make up 3 meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner for a family of 4 (or larger if requested). We ensure that all food is balanced, but also long lasting and easy to prepare. We are conscious of the circumstances families may be living with and are empathetic in our approach. All contact is handled through the families support teams, with our best wishes passed on.

As soon as December comes around we are beginning our work to organised our food, wrap boxes, pack, cellophane and bow, wrap gifts and distribute across the area! We all this in 2 weeks to make sure we are ready before the services close for Christmas breaks. We ALWAYS need help from volunteers, many hands really do make light work and without their support we wouldn't be able to keep up with the increasing demand. Could you help?!

The campaign has grown year on year. In 2014 we delivered 92 Hampers, in 2015 we delivered 102, in 2016 it was 159 and in 2017 we were able to supply 259 hampers to families.  Although we are saddened by the need for this service, we are determined to keep going year on year to offer support and a small piece of mind to our communities where possible.

We are always looking for partners and volunteers to work with to ensure we can sustain our Christmas Family Hampers Campaign.  If you know of a organisation, business or just want to get involved yourself please do contact us!
