Children’s Place Foundation, with funding from Action for Children’s Innovation Fund, are launching an awareness raising and training programme to support professional practitioners who are working with refugee and asylum seeking children and families.
The Charities are innovatively joining forces to ensure refugee and asylum seeking children and families are supported in our communities by ensuring the people on the front line understand and are equip to deal with additional needs that may present.
The ‘Starting Again’ programme will include training sessions on:
Awareness, engagement and support for Refugee and Asylum Seeking families
Emotional well-being for Migrant children in Early Childhood
Trauma informed practice: Supporting Refugee and Asylum Seeking children
The launch event will introduce the programme and highlight the issues that the Refugee and Asylum seeking families are experiencing as well as providing details on how to access the training.
Speakers from various organisations working across Yorkshire with Refugee and Asylum seeking families will be presenting and answering questions. These organisations include, Children's Place Foundation, Action for Children, Refugee Council, and Volunteers Together Kirklees.
The launch event will be beneficial for people working as part of the early years workforce across Yorkshire including Local Authorities, Charities, Health Care professionals and organisations, Nurseries, Schools and Community Organisations.
Children’s Place Foundation and Action for Children have shared values in improving life chances for children by working collaboratively with other likeminded organisations. Both organisations believe it is vital that all children get help and support when and wherever needed in order to enable them to reach their full potential.
