Children in the early years have a lot to learn about our managing their own emotions and our expectations. We know that children benefit from being in an environment where they feel safe and secure and know what is expected of them; an environment where they are supported to learn and develop in a way that is sensitive to their needs and developmental stages of learning.
We also know that consistent approaches and behavioural expectations, consistent encouragement of desired behaviours, and an understanding of child development have a positive impact on children’s developing personalities, skills and abilities
This course will:-
Examine the role of the adult in supporting children’s developing skills and abilities and the impact of consistent approaches and behavioural expectations
Explore different ways to encourage positive behaviour
Consider the effect of negative attitudes on children’s long and short term well-being
Reflect upon age and developmentally appropriate behaviour and consider the possible causes of challenging behaviour
Consider the importance of working in partnership with parents and families
